An APEC funded project overseen by Assoc. Prof. Dr Satirenjit Kaur Johl, successfully hosted
a webinar titled “Strategies for Building a nexus for Eco-innovation and AI-Big Data for the
energy sector of APEC Economies” on the 14th of August 2025. This webinar was the first of
two important milestones for the APEC project overseer and featured APEC Energy Working
Group experts, nominated representatives and experts from APEC member economies. The
webinar was attended by 60 participants from various backgrounds ranging from energy
industry, academia, research bodies, and policy. The webinar’s aim was to deep-dive into
identifying, discussing and classifying the challenges and opportunities brought about by the
implementation of AI-Big Data in APEC energy sector operations. The webinar’s participants
benefitted from the insights shared by the leading energy experts from APEC’s energy sector,
with specific challenges, solutions to overcome these challenges and strategies to implement
changes all discussed during the webinar.
