APEC Workshop on Implementation of Eco-innovation and AI-Big Data: Fusing the two to produce Carbon Neutrality

Over the course of 2 days from the 5th to the 6th of November 2025, APEC Energy Working
Group experts, nominated representatives and experts from APEC member economies,
participants from Malaysia’s energy sector, and special guests of honor from Sabah Energy
Corporation and the Energy Commission of Malaysia convened at Royal Hotel Signature Kuala
Lumpur to take part in an APEC funded workshop titled “Implementation of Eco-innovation
and AI-Big Data: Fusing the two to produce Carbon Neutrality”. This workshop’s aim was to
engage in eco-innovation capacity building of APEC economies energy sector through
exploring the integration of Artificial intelligence and big data into energy innovation activities.
This workshop was successfully co-hosted by Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, with over 50
participants taking part over the two days. Experts and participants benefited from an excellent
line up of expert sharing sessions, engaging in group discussions in breakout sessions, and
roadmaps from the roundtable session. This workshop marked the second important milestone
for the APEC funded project overseen by Assoc. Prof. Dr Satirenjit Kaur Johl.
